Re: My (non-flowering) Echinocerei

I had an engelmanii years ago that I grew from seed. It was kept in a lean-to greenhouse where the temperature dropped close to freezing in the winter but it never flowered for me in over 15 years (reaching a height of nearly 12 inches). My subsequent experience in flowering other Echinocereus speci...

I'll water the plant and have the G and T myself then.

Should I water? - UPDATE

Buds have just appeared on my Conophytum taylorianum ernianum. Is it time to give it a splash?

Re: Copiapoa hypogaea

Perhaps a word of advice Rod. Don't leave your plant in the 2" pot for long as these little gems grow quite a decent sized tap root. I think a deep 2.75" square pot could be a good next move  Thanks Brian. I'll de-pot it later today and have a look. I don't have any deep 2.75" ...

Re: What's my astrophytum asterias up to?

It looks as though you've got away with it, Wilk, and the plant has survived. Astro's in general like full sun but if yours has been in the shade I would acclimatise it gradually. You don't want to burn it after nursing it so far!

Copiapoa hypogaea

First ever flowers today on my C. hypogaea. This is a fast mover as I saw the buds for the first time only on 24 July. Double click then magnify for a larger image. The plant is in a 2 inch pot.

Except for Fraileas, which don't seem to remain viable for more than 5 minutes

Quite right. There's nothing wrong with the current regime judging from the photos.
