Re: Cacti in Portugal
Polytunnels collect humidity at the top so it can "rain" inside! A small snail or two are causing damage - I WILL find the buggers! Yes, it gets cold in Portugal - had more than one night at -3 C I'd say slugs are more likely to be the culprits. Looking for them with flashlight at night o...

Last update last November. http://jean-andre.audissou.pagesperso-orange.fr/ Audissou issues a number of updates to his list throughout the year. His Haworthia seed is supe...

I blame it on the weather but my ascleps, like stubborn children, just won't go to sleep.

Re: Cacti in Portugal
"Garden Center" will probably yield some results as well - please note the american spelling. Otherwise, "viveiro", or "viveiro de plantas" and "centro de jardinagem", as you noted.

Re: Cacti in Portugal
Still don't get what's the biggest problem in cultivation and why sun is dangerous for plant which is all year round in an open air (vs our nordic season movements in/out) :) Our mild winter temperatures and high humidity are very good for numerous fungi, and even more so in spring: most of the pla...

Re: Cacti in Portugal
I take it then there is no national succulent society in Portugal? (I do wonder how many national societies on succulent plant exist. I only know of Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, Czech Republic, Italy, US and the UK. I also think one in China, Japan and South Africa exists, but I am not sure. How ...

Re: Aloes in flower
Maybe Portugal is a clue. I'm sure it is, Mike. I know very little about growing Aloe , it's surely beginners' luck. Wow, I'm massively impressed if you've grown and flowered Aloe laeta . This is truly a big achievement. (tu) (tu) (tu) I've tried on more than one occasion, as have other frie...
