Re: Blink and you'll miss it
You are obviously a very well organised person! A little OCD can't hurt, can it? I call it 'pharmacy syndrome' :) A missed career opportunity, I guess... If that's neglected I hate to think what you would say to some of mine. You should them crowded in a 2" pot a year ago......

Re: Book found... any info?
Living in Portugal in pre-EU, pre-internet years meant very few foreign books were available. This was fortunately one of them, and it was the prized possession of a friend, who lent it to me on several occasions. I lost contact with my friend years ago, but bought this book when I found it (used, o...

Re: Stapeliad thread 2020
Jfabiao, I think your Caralluma sp. Libya could be Caralluma (now Apteranthes) burchardii ssp. maura What do you think? Thank you, Ralph. Caralluma burchardii seems a good fit, although it should not occur in Libya - maybe that's the reason for the "sp."? Looking at pictures, my plant veg...

Re: Stapeliad thread 2020
Two late bloomers (I have some more plants in bud, but you never know if they will make it...)
Duvalia corderoyi
Caralluma sp. "Lybia" (if anyone has a better name for it, I'll take it!)

Very nice plants, Astro. I have been slowly building up my Bulbine collection, they are wonderful plants.

Re: Stapeliad thread 2020
Are all those in flower now in Lisbon? Or are they some photos you have taken over time? It's cold wet horrid weather in the UK... Most of them are in flower now, or have been in the past couple of weeks (the file names of my pictures include the date the photo was taken). We're having a standard O...

Re: Stapeliad thread 2020
Those are lovely! Do you grow the Quaqua on its own roots? Yes, all on their own roots. Very porous mineral substrate and careful watering when the weather is cold (well, Lisbon-cold, which is a fair bit warmer than your cold) or wet. How do you grow the Huernia kennedyana? I have tried it twice, b...

Re: Stapeliad thread 2020
Some of mine: Quaqua_arida_AscXXX_20200916.jpg Quaqua arida , a curious plant that turns almost black in good light. Huernia_zebrina_magniflora_Asc031_20200916.jpg Huernia zebrina subsp. magniflora , a delight. Like a regular zebrina, but fed on steroids. Huernia_whitesloaneana_Asc098_20201025.jpg H...

Re: Heat Treatment of Root Rot in Aloe and Haworthia
Plants were put into porous cloth bags and immersed completely. The water was stirred to keep the temperature even next to the plants. To ensure good circulation, the authors advise against putting too many plants in each bag. I wonder if you might be able to treat black spot in stapeliads the same...
