Re: What is your Max / Min temperature in the GREENHOUSE?

With shading on the sunnier side, and 3 fans going strong, max was 51C. No obvious damage this morning but perhaps any would need a few days to appear?

Re: glasseine seed envelopes

Hi Tina,
I've used Bedwyn Stamps, buying 45 x 60 + 10-12mm FLAP. The as invoice I had from them was for 3 x 500 envelopes at £13 for 500, but I see now they are up to £17.50 for 500.

Re: 3KW Heaters

I guess I'll find out in a few days when DPD deliver them! Ordered them an hour or so ago. I don't care what packaging they use, so long as its secure, and they give me some peace of mind. Thanks, Ralph, for the offer. I had checked eBay and found one rather tatty looking one. I'd be worried that pa...

Re: 3KW Heaters

TonyR - many thanks indeed for your input. Haberanocat - thanks for the suggestion, but I do need 6 kw into the greenhouse. When I planned it I had the electrician lay a cable that could take 10kw, so I have enough power. I have thought aboiut 2kw heaters, probably need 3 of them, more in terms of r...

3KW Heaters - SOLVED

Hi, I had a bit of a panic last night because my weather station remote told me the greenhouse was too cold. It was -2C outside. Naturally I nipped up there and found one heater not working, and the other working but making a noise, which I suspect is a bearing gone, and the fan was running a bit sl...

Re: Mammillaria id

The presence of hooked spines is not unkown in the lasiacantha group. The name of M. magallani v. hamataspinaIts been known at least since Backeberg times, and exists as a good subspecies of M. magallani on Llifle. More recently, TL103 from San Rafael in Coahuila is this which I grew from seed from ...

Re: White plastic labels

I've bought a variety of plastic labels, and agree that most are not that long lasting or that easy to writ eon. The suggestions here will be helpful indeed as and when I run out of current stcoks. These are white plastic labels that I bought at ELK a number of years ago. So each year that I've been...

First flowering (for me at least)

I acquired this Discocactus last year, it's a genus I've often admired but never grown before. I don't know the p[ecies, have posted on the BCSS Facebook with no result, but its the emergence of the flower that I find so fascinating. Yesterday, you coud just see the flower bud down the tube inside t...
