Re: EU Plant Passport Scheme

I have sought further clarifcation on all issues raised as soon as i have a reply i will.post it. That's great Bill, thank you. This is an area where detailed questions need spelling out to get through in order to receive a good and definitive answer. I hope, therefore, the questions are addressed ...

Re: EU Plant Passport Scheme

I'm sure the transport of plants and what "sales" are covered by the passport requirement is open to discussion about how sales and sellers are interpreted. What I am far from convinced of is that all seeds are covered by the EU regulation. As Stuart suggested earlier, with some justificat...

Re: EU Plant Passport Scheme

ragamala APHA are the UK enforcement agency so if you can prove they have got it wrong I suggest you take it up with them, I am only quoting what they have said I know that Bill. But I am not interested in taking it up with them. What I am interested in is simply that this forum does not give other...

Re: EU Plant Passport Scheme

One thing I have discovered is that the UK has “protected zone status”, this means we can vary EU legislation to increase protection as long as it doesn't prevent free trade ect, This may well explain the difference between APHA advice and the EU Regulations. If you look at article 14 and Annex XIV...

Re: EU Plant Passport Scheme

Where I query the information is regarding the rules applicable to seed. This web page appears to provide the latest EU information https://ec.europa.eu/info/law/better-regulation/initiatives/ares-2019-5218691_en From here are the links to two documents, the first the regulation, the second the anne...

Re: EU Plant Passport Scheme

What interests me is what not our Withdrawal Agreement decides to do re UK law in terms of transition period, but what EU regulations and law enforces. If their law says thou shalt not export to non-EU countries plants or plant materials etc without appropriate documentation, the question is whether...

Re: EU Plant Passport Scheme

I have been talking to several others who have made similar enquires of APHA Was your enquiry, or any other of the similar enquiries, made formally on behalf of any organisation? Or were they just treated as enquiries from a member of the public? I signed my email as: Trustee - British Cactus and S...

Re: EU Plant Passport Scheme

The New EU Plant Passport scheme came into force on the 14th of December. Bill, the problem I have is that the information, whilst very welcome and helpful if we were to stay within the EU, may well be totally out of date when we are now facing leaving the EU by 31st January. The links provided are...

Re: Which seeds have you ordered this year?

CactusWorld arrived in Leeds yesterday. I suppose the "choice" will depend upon your interests And here over the Pennines. I must admit having sown hundreds of cactus species over the last three years in an attempt to make up for a decade or two's absence from the hobby, I selected few (f...
