Re: Been a good year for flowers

The cacti are okay and can make do with tap water in a pinch but my carnivorous plants :???: I've been having to stretch out a small supply of RO water. So far okay but I'm really looking forward to some rain. Anyway I took a couple more pictures today and i've included a shot of each of the E. knip...

Re: Been a good year for flowers

Your Echiocereus knippelianus reyesii- is it a small dumpy plant ? Not at all, it is about 3 inches tall, but it is a fairly old plant. I have several knippelianus ssp (knippelianus, kruegeri and reyesii) and they are all distinct. Kruegeri is the small dumpy one, with paler flowers and a huge tapr...

Been a good year for flowers

Despite the rubbish start to the year, the hot spell has really brought everything along. I tend to miss the best of the flowering during the week because of work but here is a couple I managed to catch. Echiocereus knippelianus reyesii.jpg Echinocereus pulchellus.jpg Lobivia pugionacantha.jpg Gymno...

First time flowering

2 year old seed grown mamm theresae flowering, it was the only one to germinate at the time so never moved from that pot. However when I was having a closer look at it I noticed another one has germinated recently

Re: A not-co-common Mammillaria

I have 2 boolii and I can't get them to flower. They often start buds but abort them or they sit there in the axils and never progress. Do you find it needs particularly hot temps or something to flower? Schumannii, fraileana, guelzowiana etc all flower fine for me.

Re: Growing Pereskiopsis

I have made a few grafts on to christmas cacti joints in the past. I only do it if I need to try and save a failing seedling or a small offset from a rotted plant. It works well, but I don't keep things on grafts long. I take them and reroot as soon as I think they are capable. It is convenient as I...

Re: Think the seed was mislabelled

No apology needed mate, I mean its free seed anyway and I've got some great plants out of the seedpool (tu)

These viridiflorus have particularly colourful spines as it happens.
