It is a lovely plant. Amazing you did not have to stake the flower. Very pretty.

Re: Echeveria time!
Hi Roger,
Such a diverse species. Very cabbagey the first one but glorious colour, second one to die for and the last one looks more like a crassula! Thanks for sharing any way.

Re: October 2011 Photo Competition - Euphorbia
Apologies Devrim. Your English is so good, I forgot you came from Turkey. It means second to last, but I guess you know that now. Sorry again. I can hardly belive the plant is so small. You did wonderfully well with the camera - it certainly fooled me. Still a lovely picture, and a gorgeous colour t...

Re: How did you become interested in cacti/succulents?
Hi, I became interested as my son, persuaded me to buy a couple when he was about 8/9. He is now 26, so I guess the idea stuck! I think children are naturally interested in gardening/plants and it is up to us to encourage any interest they show. I have to say, he is only an admirer these days. Who kn...

Re: Aeonium cuttings
Hi Mike,
3 foot or three inches? As long as it is the latter - it will be fine. If it is still 3 foot, chop it down more so that it will be bushy when it starts to shoot. The bits you chop off can also be planted in the same way as cuttings. They will grow too.

Re: RED FLOWER OPUNTIA MICRODASYS VAR ALBA
It should root very readily. Leave it in a dry sunny place for a few days until base is dry and then simply pot up in the normal way. I would not water until spring unless you mist it. I wonder if the confusion over colour could be related to the fruits which follow the flowers and are red? Might se...

Re: Aeonium cuttings
Hi Mike, I think a lot of the hype about aeoniums being difficult is just that. I chopped my one up last week and the main stump is already shooting. If you place the cuttings/offsets into a slightly richer mix than just grit, they should root very readily if placed in a warmish spot (mine lives in ...
