Re: Biogreen heaters

Rene, thanks for your reply. Sorry I didn't see it sooner. I will have a look and see what I can do.

Re: Biogreen heaters

Hi Rene, please could you advise where to find either the spare parts or the replacement coils for parwin heaters? I'd like to know to cover myself against heater failure. I had hoped to get some spares from parwin but I seem to have just missed out.

Hello all, Sheffield BCSS website has now been updated and the details for our 70th anniversary event are online along with a downloadable PDF which has the admission slip and mini show entry form attached. There is also an embedded google map to give a better idea of the venue location. http://www....

Re: Greenhouse fan

I just have a pedestal fan to keep the air circulating. Visiting other collections it seems quite common to use pedestal or desktop fans. They're inexpensive and use very little energy. As for specialist greenhouse fans I have only seen the two that you have linked to for sale. Of the two I'd sugges...

Re: Help with ID and advice for this very large and old cact

The pictures aren't great but it does look like a Euphorbia. Probably a tricky one as Euphorbia are poisonous so not suitable for an animal enclosure and might not be health and safety friendly enough for public areas.

Re: Unheated Greenhouse

The Edgingtons website used to be a great source of information when they still had their plant list up. They grow a large variety of cacti and the very few tender ones were highlighted with the suggestion that they are better moved indoors over winter. If anyone has a copy of their stock list it wo...

Re: Aloe aloe what have we here then?

I was given one that had previously lived outside spring/ summer/ autumn and then got wrapped in fleece and stuck in a garage for winter. It appreciated a repot but looked good otherwise.

Re: How to repot. Large body small roots

Thanks Mat, Yeah we tend to keep our cactus house to 15-20 degrees in the winter. It's intersting to hear you will water again as seeing how the weather has turned cold and dark I had decided that my watering season was done. I stopped last year probably mid September but I think it was much sunnie...

Re: How to repot. Large body small roots

Hi Jo, I intend to water again this year, I have just watered today and will probably not water my very largest pots again to allow them to dry out but will water my smaller plants again in a fortnight. I'd say that you could get away with giving your plant a week or so rest to settle in and then ju...

Re: hosepipe, watering can or underwatering?

As for removing excess water from trays; if you use capillary matting you will no doubt have offcuts from when you cut the matting to fit your trays. These offcuts can be weighed down in the tray and hung over the trays edge to draw water out of the tray.
