Cochemeia setispina

Photos taken earlier this week of a very old clump of Cochemeia setispina in flower. A little bit scruffy, but nice to see it in flower.

Not to my knowledge, I grow them in standard JI 2 or 3 with plenty of grit, with no problems.

Well, Ralph, it will never be Cochemeia to me I’m afraid! Besides which both sets of flowers have now finished! (I was never very happy with Krainzia either…)

While it looks pretty in a decorative pot, unless it has drainage holes in the bottom, it will rot. Always best to plant in a proper plant pot, and if you want to use a decorative cover pot, be sure to remove it after watering so it doesn’t sit in water. I have Mammillaria balsasoides in bud currently, thought to be synonymous with beneckei. Will add post when it flowers.
