I found that alternating Solufeed Balanced with Solufeed Potassium gave the best results after over 30 years of growing these plants. Solufeed are suppliers to commercial growers and also supply in small pack sizes to amateurs. These are proper feeds.

This is fairly typical of how dealbatas grow in the UK but this one suffered extreme mealy attack while my back was turned a year or so ago. it is growing quite strongly but will take years for it to look decent again. Agreed! Definitely cold/ damp. Maybe ventilation problem leading to condensation.

Cacti grow more quickly in new compost than any fertiliser treatment - that's my experience. If you want your cacti to grow quickly, keep repotting them. The plants love it. But not necessarily potting them on. This can lead to root rot in wet compost, i.e. in an oversized container. It all depends ...

These are Notocactus roseoluteus, the smaller ones grown from seed taken from the large plant on the left. The fresh seed was extremely viable. Germination and subsequent growth was speedy. The flowers are attractive, pink and cream.
