Thanks Suzanne. The plant came from Conos (Germany). Yes, already labelled as Hereroa sp.

I tried that first Ross but no reply, both last year when I first bought it, and last month when it came into flower.

Thanks Ian. H. incurva certainly looks right from Google pics- do you know what the diagnostic criteria are for this species?

I bought a plant labelled Lobivia subnudans- presumably now called Echinopsis- but I can't find subnudans in any of my books. Does anyone know this name? Is it likely to be the same species as E. subdenudata?
It has produced a succession of 5 (so far) truly spectacular white flowers this spring.
