That is not a closed flower Phil, it is a Borzi. flower. I disagree. It's quite similar to Cleistocactus winteri though more flared at the end than many cleistos. But bear in mind that E. bridgesii and T. bridgesii are not the same thing.

I'm guessing the plant is only a couple of cm across? Mine have produced flowers when ridiculously small.

Cyrill uses the species name soehrensii for all the plants in this genus http://tephroweb.ch/tu/tukulturpflanzen.htm soehrensii being the type of the genus. With so many names based on vague and/or incomplete descriptions without a type or location information or a photo thre's something to be said ...
