Re: Agave ovatifolia

Have mixed feelings seeing it flower, but could help make another hardyish hybrid?

Re: An arid raised bed - advice please!

Very nice Tina, nice find. Im betting this might happen a few times more. I wonder what it is ? After visiting Big Plant nursery with friends, I bought a very nice Agave Parryi ssp parryi, PXL_20230507_141519493-1.jpg and it will be being joined by yet another ovatifolia. But its slightly dif...

Re: An arid raised bed - advice please!

That drybed is looking very promising 👌 well done. I have both rostrata and linearifolia although small both outside and all unmarked over that wicked winter. I'm a rather nervy gardener when it comes to over wintering my plants, so as you can imagine I was happy that my carbuncle of a shelter did a...

Re: An arid raised bed - advice please!

If you have room for a ovatifolia, I've found these to be great in our climate. I love them, I have a few of various sizes. Have fun with your drybed, its all a learning curve 😉 Give your plants room to spread themselves out, its surprising how quickly they grow when their roots are in the ground . ...

Re: Not so hardy Agave

I lost another Agave, a parryi truncata that was covered, but I guess it was the wet that finished it. But all this talk of dead plants is depressing, and its not going to put us off growing these plants is it  ? We go again. Under the shelter IMG_20230130_162905_076.jpg My ovatifolia PXL_2023...

Re: Not so hardy Agave

Those big beautiful Aloe polyphylla at Kew, no more  . But they will probably have decent size back ups for this spring.
