Re: Price range!
...I am intending using it along with grit and cat litter and John Innes rather than commercial cactus compost, but what ingredients do you consider better than perlite then Ivan? Pumice seem to be favoured in the Americas but we don't have cheap sources of it here as you do, which I think is what ...

Re: Price range!
Sorry I don't live in Europe so can't help you there. I was just curious why Dave chose perlite. Perhaps it is just "price and availability" as you say.Carl wrote:Please find me one for the same price and availability here in Europe

Re: Price range!
I am surprised to see this Dave, since almost everywhere it has been suggested that there is much better replacements for perlite. I suppose you must have a special purpose for it.DaveW wrote:... Probably will get a 100 litre bag as delivery is free, ....

Thank-you for these, Liz. I may have one or two of these and have had them labeled as unknown sedum. If and when I get flowers, I may be able to id them.Liz M wrote:I had a look through my plants and found these.

Re: Fenestraria water requirments
... I think diatomite in large quantities drains too quickly. When allowed to dry, it acts as a desiccating agent, drying the roots up... Interesting. I never thought of that. Since I use NAPA and it is sold as an oil absorbent that makes a lot of sense. I am using it 50/50 with a nice loam I final...

Re: Fenestraria water requirments
Yes, I pot them in very drainy soil, basically 90% grit. When I water them, water starts draining out of the hole almost immediately. I started using diatomite earth, and I wonder if it could be a bad idea, since it stays moist for long time. I realize this is a bit old but I do have a couple quest...

Two pair of emerging leaves. I hope the name is correct.
