Didymaotis Lapidiformis

I have tried raising this species from seed in the past, but always failed to get any germination. I now have a rather different problem. My latest attempt has germinated like mustard and cress! Knowing the reputation of this species I am appealing for any suggestions/advice on what I need to do to ...

Re: George Hollis, FBCSS

I was very sad to here the news about George yesterday. Dartford Branch was 50 years old last year and George was indeed one of the founding members. George was always very generous with his plants and his vast knowledge. When I was getting my collection of Conophytums going he invited me round. I e...

Re: Christmas Conophytum

Unfortunately I only have the one plant.

It was obtained from Chris Rodgerson in 2000. My records show a collection number - SB633

Christmas Conophytum

I don't have a Christmas Cactus, but this Conophytum always flowers for me at this time of year.

I'm sure it is nowhere near as popular.

It is C. Smorenskaduense from Smorgenskadu Farm.

Re: What should be the fate of my damaged Echinopsis?

It really depends on whether you will be able to pass on the resulting plants or not.

You may not have space problems at the moment, but you won't want a collection that is all the same plant.

Once you are successful with the offsets will you really need to keep original plant?

Re: Albuca spiralis

I acquired an Albuca Spirialis in May, at a branch meeting. It was in flower at the time with a flower spike of 8 flowers. It recently put out fresh leaves and another flower spike.

Re: What’s in a Name?!

Another problem is there are "splitters" and "lumpers". Splitters tend to see every small variation in plants as the evidence to give separate names and so salami-chop species to give a plethora of names. Lumpers take an opposite view and seek to allow for natural variation in na...

Re: A Gymnocalycium spegazzinii

It's one of those species we can't provide the same growing conditions for in cultivation, more's the pity!
