Frik du Plooy numbers

I have a couple of Lithops ultimately from Sonia Barker-Fricker which have "F" numbers. I assume these are Frik du Plooy, can anyone confirm that? If so, are they meaningful, and if so is there a list?

Thanks Derek.
Pruning I assume is the way forward?

Re: Tylecodon in flower - but which?

In all the editing I lost the heartfelt

"Thank you to all for the help".

Adding the quote somehow erased it!
Again thanks, the online place for reliable C&S info.

Re: Tylecodon in flower - but which?

David - why do you doubt the name on the label, apart from its gender? I've had at least 3 pygmea/us before and I think DT has reassigned each to a different species, so just suspicious of the veracity of the name! I think it has been applied willy-nilly to small plants - or perhaps I have just bee...

Hi All,
I'd welcome help identifying this Tylecodon that I got as T. pygmea. Sorry about the photo quality!
Thanks for the help!

Sudden Lithops death

I seem to recall, some years ago, a few cases of deaths in collections of experienced growers. Cases where a significant number of Lithops suddenly snuffed it.
Was a cause identified? Did they continue?

Re: Roots

Thought I had posted this but no evidence of it. Sorry if it appears more than once. Do we have sny actual data/evidence of what lithops roots look like in habitat? Deep or look down for water or near the surface for access to light moisture? I have seen loads of pictures of succulents with shsllow ...

Re: Tap Water

If you are going to use vinegar I recommend doing a test first. I add 50ml of 5% vinegar to a 2 gallon can. Two thirds of this goes to neutralise "alkali" in the water and has no long term effect on pH. No doubt your water source will be different. I take it from between 7.5 and 8 to about...

Gasteria - black spot

This used to be a major Gasteria issue, but less discussed. How do I deal with the black spot on this very poorly cultivated Gasteria "lutzii"? Obviously plan to repot if worth keeping, perhaps the very poor root room is part of the problem.
