Re: Tap water for lime-loving plants?
i'll start, and this is just my opin. put the lime in the soil. it will buffer any acidity, raising the ph. you get crushed limestone at a garden center. that's what happens in nature. hard water may spot your plants and pots when dry as the minerals are left on the leaves.

Re: Grafted plant care
i have about 70 grafts and i water them with regard to the scion, unless you notice the stock shriveling. i only use pereskiopsis as stock and it will shrivel over winter unless it gets some water. OTH, if the scion is plump, more water may split it at the base. and it may split at the base anyway, ...

Re: Repotting seedlings
i would spend the time cultivating the soil around the plants. when completely dry, break up the surface algae into clumps you can easily tweezer away, and use a tooth pick to gently jab and loosen the soil around the plants and pot. then add a clean layer of fresh grit and you're done.

Re: Pelecephora aselliformis
i had one of these with the pups before i let it freeze. as well as that mistake, i had picked off the pups to root. none rooted, and it was simply an exercise in futility. advice: don't be tempted to break off the pups.
i now have a 9 year old seedling that is still only 1" tall. groan.

ava, i would pinch some fine sand between my finger and thumb and carefully just cover the soil with it. that also will help ward off some other pest problems.

Re: Bottled water?
letting the water stand allows the temp to adjust to the soil temp, as well as out gas any additives. no root shock stopped leaf yellowing on sensitive plants. it worked for me, and another person i told tried it with noticeably good results. i had a moringa, he had euphorbias.

Re: Bottled water?
tap water is fine if you let it sit for a day. i found out it was the temp that did the damage.
