Also depending on the value of your plants you might want to consider the importance of an independent backup heat source otherwise a power interruption could be a catastrophic loss.

I recently gave in and started using perlite because my mixes were not drying out fast enough (I use NAPA oil dry and Walmart's equivalent to the Tesco's cat litter I used to use in the UK) and perlite is cheap, lightweight and more easily found in local shops. I bought some haworthia seed from bsquared. Zero germination and I was not surprised by that result as the seeds were sent inside a greeting card unprotected and were pretty much crushed to dust on arrival. I have had great results with Haworthia hybrid seeds from the seller caudx in new zealand so ...

I was under the impression you should never lay glass flat in your car boot unless you wanted to break the whole lot in one go. The advice I'd heard was always to lean them at an angle.

Adeniums will brown and drop their leaves when they encounter a sudden change in light conditions. Don't worry though they leaf right back up with leaves that are more suited to the new conditions.
