I believe my plant I have labeled as Disocactus flagelliformis is actually D. flagriformis the stems are thinner than other plants I have labeled as D. conzattii and I also have a plant labeled as D. flagelliformis which is cristate which has much thicker stems with sparser spines.

Were going to need photos, Schlumbergera are usually quite pest free and in fact I find most pests will try and avoid it unless it's a last resort... As for the flies they sound like Sciarid fly which you can fix by topping pots with gravel and watering from a saucer at the bottom, I have found that...

On a more prosaic note - does it actually work against spider mites the current bane of my greenhouses? Nothing in that leaflet seems to give the active ingredients.... There is no active ingredient as such although I believe it's given on the data sheet as Urea... it's a physical pesticide in the ...

Spotted some mealybug on a cotoneaster yesterday! As for Neem you have to be careful what you use it on for instance you should not use it on epiphytic cacti as it will damage the stems.

It's just general first-aid type ointment in a tube "triple antibiotic" available at the pharmacy. I've also used "Neosporin" and they seem to work equally well. I just looked at a Neosporin label and realize it uses a mix of 3 ingredients as well: Neomycin, Polymyxin B Sulfates...
