Re: Greenhouse flooring
If you can't face laying flags or pouring concrete, another very easy option is to use the heavy grade weed barrier. I was inspired to use this after seeing it in polytunnels at the kind of nurseries that sell bedding plants etc. As long as you get the overlaps away from where you could get your foo...

Re: Show us your big'uns!
I know you've shown us that Opuntia pycnantha before, Tina, but I never tire of seeing such a beautiful plant.

Sorry, I should have said. I've edited the post. Incidentally, both came from the forum seed pool, sown last July. There's still plenty of Eriosyce seed in there.

Re: Online library of digital books (on C&S)
I thought this was due a bump - there seems to have been quite a few additions since I last looked. The Cactus&Co back numbers, although quite old, are quite good, though they're taking forever to download!

Re: Most serious injury?!
I trod bare footed on an Opuntia pad when I first got into cacti, aged about 8. It didn't put me off! I had several plants fall against my head when a shelf collapsed as I put something on it. Luckily, they were short spined plants but the spines went quite deep into my forehead and eyebrows - some ...

Angie - be wary of putting slug pellets where Holly might eat them. My neighbour where I used to live used them liberally and my cat took a liking to them. That was the end of her.

Re: Quick question
I just wanted to post a pic of one of my Echinopsis oxygona (probably of the E. eyriesii type). It came from a jumble sale in the late 80s and had rather elongated, weedy-looking offsets. Apologies for this blurry pic - it's a photo of a photo taken in 1990. http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h233/mc...

Re: The Peat Dilemma
I won't use peat and don't really see it as a 'resource' to be used. I dislike John Innes because it's dirty, heavy and, under my cultivation techniques, becomes airless quite quickly in addition to the fact that it contains peat. Coir is rather too moisture retentive for my liking too! For about 10...

Re: snow everywhere
I was amazed that the one I made on Easter Sunday was still a little mound of snow the following Saturday afternoon, despite several days of sun then rain.
