Here's what i have as E. taltalensis 'violaciflora'
Blooming about 2 weeks ago, although i find it can bloom sporadicaly almost any time of year.

I guess i'll accept the blame
Another possibility is Cyl. thurberi which grows in Sonora.
I'd be hard pressed to tell these apart!

Right, Cyl. californica is bigger all around, stems, buds, flowers. The flowers are more of a bright lemon color.
The full view pic does reveal some questionability from the plants i've seen in Arizona, but they are variable. And all i have is my phone screen, so i might be missing something.

These don't branch until several feet tall and they branch from the top or close to it. Branches at the base suggest damage as a young plant or right from the get go.
Is it unusual? Yes. But still makes for a nice plant!

I've collected about 75 packets of seed from our plants and got another 30+ from a friend. My 'busy' is about to tripple!
