Re: Lobivia chilensis KK641
I loved buying plants from Windyridge, always exciting when the paper lists dropped through the door. And Mel Fussel, remember him?

Re: Next winter considerations
In an unheated greenhouse a fan is another waste of money. To create air flow just open the vents and the doors.
Your plants are looking good Ross. I'm planning on s few weeks in Bolivia in November/December if you fancy it .

Re: Next winter considerations
I haven't heated my greenhouse for many years, a total waste of money as far as I'm concerned. The lowest temperature I've recorded has been -6C and everything ( Lophophora, Turbinicarpus, Ariocarpus, Gymnocalycium and Lobivia/ Echinopsis) came through unscathed. Some of the Lophophoras froze solid ...

Re: Caterpillar Woes
I was wondering if these hormone traps (https://www.gardening-naturally.com/tortrix-moth-trap) would work for the species I'm having issues with Guess what? So-called hormones are totally species-specific. If they weren't, the world would be in very serious trouble or would not exist as is. Yeah, m...

Re: Cactus mites
My collection has suffered over the years from both RSM and Brevipalpus but for the last few years regular spraying (once a month) with a rape seed oil spray or SB seems to have them well under control. The kiss of death writing that of course 🙂. I did my May spray just this morning. For Brevipalpus...

Re: Pachypodium brevicaule
My seedlings never came to anything, all gave up after s few years. I have struggled with the more highland Madagascan species brevicaule, horombense, gracilius, etc. The more coastal species seem to like living with me but those plants from the middle of the island definitely don't. I visited Mount...

Flowering twice from one areole?
The answer to this will probably be 'it depends on the species' but can cacti flower from the same areole in consecutive years? I know that some species can produce more than one flower from the same areole at the same time but I'm asking specifically about in subsequent years.
