Hi all,
I'd welcome any help identifying this mesemb. Reportedly it grows with Lithops divergens around 50km N of Vanrhynsdorp. I've not seen a flower. It grows in the winter. This one is about 9" tall but suggests it could readily get bigger.
Thanks

Re: Facebook as a tool to support the BCSS
Third go hoping to get it posted 1. Well done to Kathy for volunteering! 2. There are lots of things wrong with the group. I suspect I agree with all the criticisms above. But there are a lot of people there. I suggest general society members take the chance, when they can, to post about things they...

Re: Help with ID Please
I think I agree with Liz: A. juvenna. A bit more growing may confirm it.

Re: Facebook as a tool to support the BCSS
Having said that I don't expect to learn much, there are some interesting exchanges it there among the beginners questions. I argue that there is value in being on fb.

Re: Facebook as a tool to support the BCSS
Regarding pages vs groups: I am not knowledgeable enough about this to comment, you may well be right. What worries me though about a grand plan is that it will need volunteers to spend time developing it and I don't know who they will be - certainly not me I'm afraid - neither skills nor time. My f...

Re: Facebook as a tool to support the BCSS
I think that many do largely agree that we want a social media presence. Whether branch presence is necessary/positive is much less clear. A fb presence needs to be alive and have regular interesting posts with pictures. If it is clearly out of date it is probably a detriment. As mentioned above, th...

Re: Facebook as a tool to support the BCSS
I think that was my original point and we agree, it would be great if more people posted more positive stuff about what is going on in the society on Facebook. A little more would be good. A lot more would be even better and necessary to maximise the impact. I think the clear differences between wha...

Re: Facebook as a tool to support the BCSS
Thanks for that more informed perspective, Phil. I agree the whole future of these online activities is unclear and the effort involved unappreciated. I suppose I'm just keen to encourage people to sing the society's praises when they can.

Facebook as a tool to support the BCSS
HI all, I tried to post this before but it seems not to have worked - apologies if it appears twice! I'll start with saying I'm not a great user of Facebook, twitter etc. However, these are places people who are starting an interest in the hobby often go, so there is a huge untapped source of branch...

Re: Heating my new greenhouse
I'd just remind everyone that electricity and water do not mix well, especially if you are in a metal cage, like the one that often supports glass. Just take care when planning electricity in the greenhouse, ideally get professional advice.
