CITES protected?
CITES in many cases is really not fit for purpose in my opinion. The system simply doesn't work when those inspecting plants and supplying paperwork have no idea what they are looking at, or worse, perhaps accepting a bribe. 284858410_411387134222738_719405717938218036_n.1.jpg 284031898_544463483873...

Heavily poached for the last few years and continues to be so. As previously mentioned please avoid buying large, old plants.

Re: Adromischus Maximus
Just seems to be what it does Mike. I also find maximus is susceptible to overwatering in that the leaves will split alarmingly from taking up too much water. All these species grow in very open aspects so can maybe take more light that yours seem to be getting.

Re: Adromischus Maximus
Something like this one (link) maybe?
[/quote]
As often happens with Cok's plants, he has the data and/or ID wrong. This is not sphenophyllus but a hybrid of sphenophyllus x cooperi, thus a form of 'halesowensis'.

Re: Adromischus Maximus
I've grown Adromischus maximus from leaves simply by not trying too hard. Purposely trying as with the usual methods of rooting adro leaves has rarely worked for me but just by planting a few around the edge of the donor plant pot or in a pot under the bench and neglecting it usually produces. They ...

Doesn’t seem like a typical variegata.

Re: Aloe variegata (Dikkop Flats)
I also have a Dikkop Flats variegata, grown from seed a while ago (Mesa Garden if I recall correctly). I got the locality specifically because Dikkop = tadpole in Dutch (and likely Afrikaans as well), which made me imagine them growing surrounded by frog ponds. A Dikkop is a bird in the stone curle...
