Hi David,

If you zoom in on the first picture you can see the labels, the first "E" is for Echinocereus, my favourite genus covering USA and Mexico. A large quantity are hardy in an unheated greenhouse and some species can even be planted outside. Most have large flowers too! :mrgreen:

I'm read some people find keeping them damp throughout bud formation helps flowering. Leuchtenbergia are among the most regulally watered in my collection and (fingers crossed) I don't seem to have any problems with rot. Of course increasing the amount of watering for any cactus does have it's risks!

They're exactly the same. Either will work. The Vine Weevil product comes with instructions for use as a soil drench, which might make you more comfortable.[/quote]

What are the instuctions to use as a soil drench? I don't have the vine weevil product :roll:

Of course sometimes it needs considering if the seed is too fresh. I've read that with the seeds of cryptocarpic plants (such as M.theresae where the seed are released sometimes years after fruit formation)- the seed coat is covered in Phenolic compounds which acts as an inhibitor to stop premature ...

Hi JST,

As I understand it all Echinofossulocactus can be called Stenocactus. Think Stenocactus is the newer term, certainly easier to put on labels...

Please anyone correct me if I'm wrong :geek:
