Re: There's red and there's red
I like red Lithops too. Especially the Lithops optica 'Rubra' (and Pleiospilos nelii 'Rubra').
But still struggling a bit on how to treat my Lithops optica 'Rubra'. Same as any Lithops, or are they better off treating them as a winter active plant along with Conophytums and such?

Has that Lophophora been bending the pot a bit there, or is it your camera making it ellipse?

Re: My Cabinet: Aztekium ritteri
I assume it is not self-fertile?
Is there a plant that can cross with an Aztekium to get viable seeds (if both in flower)?

Maybe because it is colder in the north-western part of Europe?claudinski wrote:I noticed there are several famous growers of Conophytum coming from UK and I'd like to know why it's so much wider this passion here!

Re: Do you still water your conos?
The date is usually quite a good indicator when to start or stop watering. Usually better than only keeping an eye on the weather. I gave my winter active plants a last splash last weekend. And they will get some again in late August, some earlier if they really show signs that they are waking up. A...

Re: Ants
I will keep cinnamon in mind... I don't want to hurt them if they bother me, just make them go away. (tu) Does it work on other critters? I use 'ant powder' myself. It disorientates the ants, making it hard / unlikely for them to find the nest back again. Not harming them directly, but I am quite s...

Re: Caudex plants (for starters) and other caudex questions.
Just place them outside the intense sunlight until August.
Don't water. Unless really really really small, you might splash them a little bit a few times.
