Re: Cacti in Portugal

Unbelievable. I saw in Algarve (Sotavento) were many nights with only +1C just on the coast.
Though, here we had -25C last night, so I'd rather lows in Algarve. :)

Re: Cacti in Portugal

My more than 20-30 years grown plants are smaller than ones in the shop... :)
Under what names in Portuguese can I find garden centres etc using net?
"Loja agricola" or "garden centre" - search gives very small amount of points.
I'd want something in Sotavente, closer to VRSA.

Lisbon, the Alentejo hills where I am and the Algarve are all different places with different climates,(like London to Leeds) the...

Re: Crassula ovata

Many crassulas (as other crassulaceae eg echeveria, sedum etc) have bright reddish shades and colours in autumn dew to night temps drop, i's amazing IMHO.
Here in summer night temps always very low so we enjoy colourful plants all year round. :)

Re: Cacti in Portugal

This discussion is very interesting for me also as our family is regular guest in Algarve where it's possible to hold small amount of plants in the garden but by own care only as agreed with house owner. So is it possible to buy common commercial cacti and succulent soil mixture in garden centres? (...
