Re: Another strange thing (not me!)

I used to have two or three others on their own roots but they never looked very nice, just looked like overgrown Echinopsis silvestrii with a few hooked spines. This one is a far more robust plant, whether that is down to being grafted or not I do not know.

It's nice when you have a big one

Articulatus of course, what were you thinking of? Ian's post re his plant prompted me to post this. They do indeed sprawl along the ground given time and a good amount of luck as they break apart very easily. This one lives on a shelf about 2m high and is well out of harms way and I move it as littl...

Re: Sympathy with Phil

Hi Ian, it's about 500cm tall and I have had it about 8 years. The only observation I can make about its hardiness is that it's been in the unheated greenhouse for about two years now.

Another strange thing (not me!)

I came by this as a grafted plant and for quite a few years just like Topsy "it just growed and growed" Then it decided to flower and now produces 2 or 3 buds every year:ban:

Sympathy with Phil

Phils lament about having to leave a cacti that was almost in bloom struck a chord. Over the last week I've been watching my Oreocereus putting up buds and thinking I would be away on important buisiness (flying model aircraft) when they decided to open and miss it. However the sun shone today and h...
