Re: Seed trays of mixed seedlings Solved

I’ve always removed the lids on seed trays when the newly emerged seedlings are five days old and sprayed them daily thereafter. What do you with mixed species/varieties which germinate at different times? Keep the lids on until they have all germinated? I’d be grateful for advice thanks. I use the...

You’ve done a great job Terry. Thank you so much. I'll second Mike's response. Proof that great Mike's think alike, perhaps? Regarding the third place in the Novice succulent class, I spoke to the owner and her mother, the plant which does look like Conophytum (not Gibbaeum) regale, should n...

Re: The Autumn Cactus and Succulent Show at RHS Harlow Carr on 23 September 2023 - the photographs thread not the politi

At Harlow Carr, the organisers had a job fitting everything in. The show was spread over 2 different rooms, so that didn't help, and it turned out that the available table space was less than ideal, so plants were a bit squashed together. There are bound to be glitches for the first time at a new ve...

The Dudleya was 2nd in class 32 after the Pachyphytum oviferum; the 1st in class 31 was the Crassula tecta which is just visible at the bottom edge of the class 31 Dudleya photo. So the plant was in the correct class, just a glitch with the photo. I'll second Mat's comment: I should add, that a sing...

My Opuntias live in a cold frame, because there's no room in the greenhouse.

I think that's right, Ralph. In a pot the shoots go round and round the inside of the pot, or attempt to get out of the drainage holes.

Looks happy, Mike, a lot of new growth
It does prefer a wide bowl rather than a narrower pot, doesn't it?

Re: Sedum suaveolens propagation. Did I go wrong?

I'd agree about just being patient for offsets. At that size, they're very likely to come next year.

Try rooting individual flower stem leaves/bracts from Sedum suaveolens, rather than the flower stem itself. I haven't tried this with suaveolens, but it works well with some Echeverias.
