Good work there. I like the look of the blow molded polycarbonate sheets they must be much more rigid than the usual flat sheets, I don't think I have seen them before (not that I am much of a greenhouse spotter )

I was under the impression you should never lay glass flat in your car boot unless you wanted to break the whole lot in one go. The advice I'd heard was always to lean them at an angle. Gramps, light is not always a good thing, taller plants become unstable when grown in relativly small pots filled with light weight 'compost'.

As above, they are a sort of vestigial leaf and fall off after a short while, many Opuntia have them.Liz M wrote:Your plant is an Opuntia and the spikes are the new growth. Nothing to get worried about, it is just getting bigger.

As I suspected the Thelocactus only opened on of the flowers and I missed it, so when I got home tis lunch time and Gymnocalycium horstii had opened it's first flower I had to make a record of it.
