Should be "pisina", from Latin "pisum" = pea, because of the pea-green colour of the leaves (according to Etymological Dictionary of Succulent Plant Names).

Depends on how difficult they are. For easy species, 2 to 5 seedlings is enough, for the tricky ones I prefer several dozens. I prefer to have a few spares.

Oh yes, that is how I have stored cactus seeds over the last 10-15 years, except when I plan to sow them in the near future.

The large, original files do have Exif data with the rotation set correctly, but the smaller versions are stripped of all Exif data. The small pictures have some additional text near the beginning of the file: "CREATOR: gd-jpeg", and I assume it means that the original file was automatical...
