Almost there...
Don't you know you're going to miss that important first flowering because you're away at work! It looks like tomorrow could be the big day for what is surely one of the more handsome Mamms

Re: Almost there...
Clay pot as own roots, by the way. I took a precautionary approach with this one.

Wow what a lovely plant. What is it please?
Re: Almost there...
Gosh, all of the ones that I have seen have been grafted. Who is producing them on their own roots?

Re: Almost there...
Maybe it IS grafted, Terry, and the stock has been buried. I have a grafted one ((suffered an RSM attack last year) that was in bud when it arrived, and also had seed pods. Resulting in five seedlings! They are slow though.

Was not hard to get plants on the previous ELK in Belgium, but I believe all grafted except for the really tiny ones.

Re: Almost there...
It's 100% own roots, I can assure you. I hope to post pictures of flowers tomorrow. I am working from home and the buds look ready to burst.
From the root structure when bought last year it was clearly seed grown. I've kept it through its first winter in my care and so far the signs are that it might not be too difficult to cultivate. It does have a fleshy root system so there is always a worry.
Source was an EU grower on eBay.
Even out of flower, it is a beautiful addition to the genus.
