Is there a Cactus House near you?

Post by Iain »

Do you have a Cactus House or public collection near you?

Visiting the Winter Gardens at Duthie Park in Aberdeen was an inspirational moment for me some 15 years ago. There are a series of huge glasshouses divided into Tropical, Temperate and Arid Collections.
What an impact the Arid collection made on me with some huge majestic plants (esp.Euphorbias) reaching to the ceiling. I have spent many hours there soaking up the grandeur, here's a few pictures:

These plants aren't getting special treatment - it's a health and safety precaution!

This looks like a very well kept collection, and certainly worth visit, perhaps in the spring!.

Hi Dot,
Yes it certainly puts my meagre collection in perspective!
It's nice to see mature specimens grouped together and growing
unrestricted.>:D<

I wish, nothing like that. Only Cotton Mills and Art Galleries round here.
Obsessive Crassulaceae lover, especially Aeoniums but also grow, Aloes, Agaves, Haworthias and a select number of Cacti.
