X( FIRST FLUFF
Hi All
Just been pottering in the greenhouse & decided the agave albopliosa seedlings could do with some space as there are 7 still squeezed into one of my seed trays & TA DA I have the first fluff on one of them I'm soo excited.
What is a bit odd is it's not on the newest growth or the biggest plant.

Here's the tray from above desperate fro a repot

In the tray

The actual fluff showing on the tip

fluffy bit, now I can't decide if I should leave them or repot

Way to go, Tina! They are looking good! I have a nice one Sylvia gave me after none of mine germinated, then found a tiny seedling coming up in another pot, so I must nurture it a bit.

Brilliant stuff.

It's exciting to see how the tufts of hairs develop. This is ground breaking stuff. As far as I'm aware no one has published such images before.

IMHO A. albopilosa is the most exciting thing to happen in this genus for a long time.

I'm dead jealous because my lonesome seedling is way behind your tray. You should never trust me with anything special.
Cheers,
Colin

Oops perhaps I should drag out the SLR camera & go for a better picture but it's difficult with all the other plants in the way .

Please do - this is fascinating stuff. There are a number of agave friends of mine growing these but yours are the most well developed and healthy looking seedlings I have seen.

I agree with Colin - these plants are truly remarkable. All the more so when you consider that where they grow, the Huasteca Canyon, is one of the most popular recreational spots in that part of Mexico, and yet were only recently discovered. Mind you, I went there looking for them last November and didn't see any!

Hej,
When I repotted my seedlings of A. albopilosa 2 weeks ago I was not aware of anything speciail with this species. I only knew it is a recent discovery. Maybe, so far, it is just luck that I have 11 seedlings, but for the future is there anything special to worry about to keep them alive?
I guess also time has to tell if I have the right species.
Regards,
Torbjörn
