The Special One...no, not José Mourinho!

Post by Andreas »

Dear Madams and Sirs,

I don´t know how you think about that but in my humble opinion Lithops otzeniana deserves to be called "The Special One". It is quite unique in its fashion!

My specimens must be around three years old I guess (obtained last year from Cono´s Paradise) but they are still comparatively small , not much bigger than 1 to 1,5 cm in diametre. And this makes them difficult models for my camera equipment... The photos in this topic are already smaller than the ones in "For your pleasure" but still you can spot single colour pigments of the film emulsion. I have not resharpened these images as resharpening would have made the "stones" even more "pixelated"!

Howsoever, here we go:
Lithops otzeniana C 280
Lithops otzeniana C 280
The photos are smaller than in my previous topic...at least I have been thinking so...

I got this plant as Lithops otzeniana 'Aquamarine' C 128A! :S Either there is something wrong with my eyes or "aquamarine" uses to look different!
It´s a nice specimen nonetheless but most likely not an "Aquamarine"!

Thanks again for viewing!

Bye

It is hard to tell the colour of your 'Aquamarine' from the scans. Or if not scans, then photos with odd colour balance. This cultivar is strikingly blue-green when "fresh" but can turn brown in prolonged strong sun. Strangely the same leaves can turn green again if the sun relents, something I haven't really noticed with other Lithops that lose their colour.
