Brendan Burke

Post by MikeT »

At last Saturday's North West Cactus Mart there were a number of plants for sale from a collection disposal. These included Soehrensia uebelmanniana BJB36 (= Echinopsis formosa using NCL). Unfortunately Ralph's Field Number Finder doesn't include Brendan Burke numbers. Anyone know where BJB36 is from, or where to find out?

Hi Mike
Was the label clear or faint. I ask this because 36 is not the type of number brendan would use, I have just checked on "cludwigerfr.dyndns.org " which does list his numbers and it is not there.

I will send you brendans address and e-mail by PM and I hope he can clear that up for you.

Thanks, Ray

I'll try emailing him. The label is clear, definite BJB 36

1 correction: on checking today, the plant was a seed grown plant from Gordon Foster (Oak Dene Nursery), not one of the collection disposal plants.

I have one too, also from Oak Dene. And an Eriosyce sp. BJB4 that I bought a few years ago from Gordon. I've never got very far in tracking down any data.

I am sure Brendan will tell you if you contact him. I have some Eriosyce he gave me under his numbers and he supplied the details when asked.

MikeT did you get anywhere with BJB36 "Soherensia ublemanniana"? I now have one and also drawn a blank.

Yes, indeed, Joel

Brendan was just about to go off abroad with work when I emailed, but let me know that he'd look it up on return, and duly did so. Details are: Echinopsis uebelmanniana BJB 36-1 Cuesta de Chita 22ºS 68ºW 3484m.

Thank you very much Mike. When I google that name info now comes up. I'm slightly unsure about the current status of Soehrensia. Have I read correctly that these are now once again regarded as distinct from Echinopsis & Lobivia?
