Rebutia don't have a long life : in my opinion your plant is simply old

I disagree. I have had some for over 30 years. It depends on how you grow them.RICHAUD wrote:Rebutia don't have a long life : in my opinion your plant is simply old

I talk from my own cultivation and also from a visit at Canary cactus where they say that one of the only genus they couldn't cultivate in the island was Rebutias :4-5 years and they die
And in nature (Bolivia and Argentina ) where you don't see big specimens

Just because they are not big does not mean they are not old - just not overfed!RICHAUD wrote: And in nature (Bolivia and Argentina ) where you don't see big specimens

Re: What is wrong with my Rebutia?
I am pretty sure your plant has red spider as a similar thing happened to one of my Rebutias a couple of years ago and I took a couple of heads off and let them dry off and put them to root down. I find that red spider nearly aways attacks the side of the plant not readily visible to you.
Everyones growing conditions and soil mixes are different.
