Time to put labels, so ID please

Post by AnTTun »

As I'm testing my cacti & succulent database and also repotting all my plants to zeolite, I decided to finally put decent names to quite a few of my plants. I mean names other that Froggy, Mir I Am, MicroE etc. Some of them are with me for more than 30 years and they deserve decent name tag :) I can't think of better place to ask for help than this one so... well, you kind guys & girls asked for it :) Don't be affraid, I'll post 1-2-3 pics at time, tho this might be very long topic :) I just hope I won't scare you away :)

So lets start with two (supposedly) easy ones. First one is mammillaria, I wasn't able to find a pic of its flowers, but it has pretty distinctive look so I hope it won't be a problem to ID her.

Other one is probably one of biggest rebutias, pot is 12 cms in diameter. I found pic with flowers too so I hope it won't be hard to ID her either.

Flowers are a bit more vivid, as you can guess from different tones.

P.S. Don't get me wrong, I'm not being lazy and avoiding to search pics myself, but it can often be confusing and I count on those of you that already have plants like mine.

sulcos are always a headache to identify but that looks like albissima, +/- a form of mentosa.

Thought celsiana but nejapensis is a very good suggestion - some do have such long spines and it's a better match

OK, two down (THANK YOU all :) ), just a hundred more to go :) Another pair would be as follows.

Garden centre ferocactus. Couldn't help myself, I have a thing for ferocious things. And plants. :)

And a notocactus with (I hope) quite distinctive flower.

The Fero could be F. recurvus... possibly...

I'd go for Noto warasii on the second obne.

Looks like Parodia/Eriocephala magnifica from above and warasii from the side! :???:

Fero recurvus has so many variations that I'd go with Diane's opinion. And Noto/rodia sounds fine to me too.

Today I have 'mammillaria special', two from garden center that look pretty much alike from distance. So spines and flower pics included too. Tho, I'd settle with any name...

Possibly M. polythele and maybe v. nudum, or v. inermis.
