Tesco cat litter

Post by gerald »

It's been a few years since I bought some and now I need more but the packaging has all changed, so I'm not sure which bag to buy; if someone could please post a pic or link I'd be very grateful THX (tu)

I'll add this here since I didn't see it in any of the linked threads:

Hope they didn't change the packaging again ...

This is supposed turface. It looks and feels very similar to diatomaceous earth. How suitable is it for mesemb use? I found diatomaceous earth to be too free draining, or maybe I just did not add enough compost?

I now prefer the larger granules of Sanicat Pink Non-Clumping. I found the smaller granuled Tesco stuff made my compost too water retentive for mature plants but was OK for setting cuttings or rooting offsets.

I agree I also prefer the slightly larger particles in the Sanicat product

Also they often have offers on it and its in larger bags of 30ltrs so turns out a bit cheaper too

Just been to Pets at Home for more birdseed and while I was there noticed a bag of cat litter amongst some items on offer. I didn't look at the main display of cat litter so don't know if the clearance sticker means they will no longer stock this brand

I must admit I have changed my litter habits (???) like others in this thread. Am now using the Sanicat larger granule stuff in my potting mix. But the tesco finer grade is still top banana for rooting cuttings!

Tesco were supposed to be cutting 30% of its lines this year. I'm not sure if it's happened already and the litter's safe or if it's still at risk. Does anybody on the inside know?
