I have always called it Schwartzkopf so it's good to know the correct name.

I have never had a flower. But I find that even leafless bits of stalk readily develop rosettes and roots. Alison, you could chop where possible so as not to lose your plant. And please post a photo of the flower!

I think 'Schwartzkopf' is for native English speakers easier to pronounce (correctly) than 'Zwartkop', so you might as well stick with it.
