Yucca endlichiana, will it die?

Post by iann »

Good news, but is this one of those irritating plants that dies after the flower display?

Yours may or may not die but in habitat they form dense colonies so i guess they don't necessarily!

Beautiful plant, I should add - very well grown.

No, it shouldn't.
you will probably find that once/as it flowers it will form offsets. The flower spike it terminal but only for that growth point.
Can we have some more photo's please (tu) and size of flower /plant,
Tina

Should make a good show plant, not a well-known yucca and its been in the identification part of the Judges Course more than once. It forms large, low clumps in habitat and is very slow in cultivation. If no dieback on the leaf tips I'd take your plant to the National.

The tips are slightly blackened, but it seems reasonably healthy to me. Slow and rare, but I don't think it is hard to grow well. One of my most neglected plants.

Good!

I hope it will be as tough to germinate from seeds too. I sowed seeds of this species almost two months ago. Still no germination, while other Yucca's do (but not as much as a year ago). Starting to get a bit worried...

Lovely plant! How old is it, Iann? It seems to be in quite a large pot, is this filled with caudex?
