This early? on mine there are no signs of buds yet.

Seems about the right time for flowers based on previous years. Maybe eight is getting a bit crowded?

That's some display! It's one of the very best mammillarias in my opinion, and yours is certainly well grown. I have six buds coming along on one of mine and as it's only a small plant I expect it'll form a nice ring, though probably not quite as crowded as yours.
