Plenty of buds forming but where is the sun to open them?

Post by kenroy »

Seems like the warmth is promoting the formation of buds but don't seem to be getting long enough sunny periods to encourage the flowers to open. Thunder rumbling even as I write this!

Plenty of flowers open in the greenhouse today, but very little sun. Very hot and muggy with all the vents closed.

Yes,
I'm in Lancaster in NW England. I think we have been on the top edge of the thundery weather so missed the worst of the storms and flooding, but not far enough north to get some sun. We had hot sunny weather recently and I'm just hoping that that was not our "summer" and that it's all downhill to autumn now - surly not!

Been very frustrating here, had warm sunny mornings with complete sheets of water coming down in the afternoon. But its not been consistent, so loads of my plants have buds and they are opening a bit but closing up by the time I'm home and I've missed some favourite ones

Oh well hopefully there'll be more.

So much for June!
You can take the boy out of the greenhouse, but you can't take the greenhouse out of the boy!

The big bulge in the flowering period was pretty much over for me as the weather began to turn a few weeks ago. The cooler weather has come at just the right time and the resulting growth on my plants is very noticeable.
