I believe some people do shampoo them, so your title is accurate.

For sure, Eddie, you must use (for example) a premium L'Oréal product as promoted by Cheryl, but be careful it isn't one with a colour tint  Look forward to seeing the end result at the National Show!

What a coincidence! I was just looking at my Oreocereus trollii which has dirty hairs in the lower half of it's body and thinking if I could wash the hair with non-toxic washing fluid containing Finnish pine oil. And after a few minutes I saw this post!

LOL! a wash and blow dry for cacti :-) I like to use Ecover liquid soap with a bit of water and it works a treat :-)

I used Ecover washing up liquid generously in a spray bottle of water and sprayed my Oreocereus fossulatus until it was well lathered all over. I rinsed well with the hosepipe and used a hair dryer on cool setting to dry it. It looked better afterwards. I even teased out the wool to fluff it up.

This has been fascinating. I always thought it was a joke to shampoo hair on cacti.

On further reflection, you should of course use this - Wild Cactus Anti Breakage Shampoo
