14th August 2016

The nectar smells of peanut butter and there is about 1.5 ml in each flower. I have been sucking it out with a small pipette just to save on the mess everywhere. It does taste fruity though.

Best Regards
Dave

Superb, you must be very happy. What do you do with the nectar?

That's amazing, Agave spikes never fail to leave me in awe. How big is the plant? Mines 36 cm high and 42 across and I thought that was big, but yours seems much bigger. Guess I've still got a while to wait for a bloom by the looks of it.

This parrasana is a compact form, the top of the flowers are about up to my chin so no heroics on the top of a step ladder to tickle these flowers. It offsets like crazy for most of its life. I think I bought it as a rooted offset somewhere around 2005 at the BCSS show at RBG Birmingham.

If you look at some earlier pictures on this thread where it is on the patio, the slabs are 30x30 and 30x60 cm to give you some idea of size, quite small for a parrasana.

31st August 2016

A few seed pods beginning to fatten up.

Pollen from 3 other plants was used on this so I guess we will have to wait until next spring to see what we have.

I have an Agave Parrasana Huntington Clone I bought from plantlifecactus and it is wonderful now but albeit still small, 9 CM pot. Looking forward to the day it grows so big....

Does anyone have any suggestions when I can move it outdoors full time?

So far so good, might have something interesting or just end up overrun with more parrasana.

Fantastic. That's what I like about fresh seed, masses of it come up after sowing. You will need to see how the seedlings develop, then think about disposal of the seedlings. Unless you want an Agave forest!

July 2017 Still going,

This is odd behaviour and I haven't seen any other reference to it.
