Hatiora from seed?
I was bought an orange flowering Easter Cactus earlier this year (Hatiora/Rhipsalidopsis ) which flowered its heaf off. Its in the greenhouse at the moment full of sweet juicy fruit (taste a little like Kiwi fruit) which are full of seeds. Do these plants come true to type or might I get a different variety back?
You can take the boy out of the greenhouse, but you can't take the greenhouse out of the boy!
Re: Hatiora from seed?
I'm afraid these won't breed true, in fact I'm not sure how viable the seed will be. But if they do come up - who knows though you might get something even better!

That would be good news for me. No point having lots of the same plant.D^L wrote:I'm afraid these won't breed true, in fact I'm not sure how viable the seed will be. But if they do come up - who knows though you might get something even better!

Re: Hatiora from seed?
My dad grew some plants from his own seeds, starting from Rhipsalidopsis rosea and R. gaertneri. He got some very nice hybrids from this, so do try.
