Looks like Echinocereus engelmannii or E. fendleri, but the flower is moe engelmannii

Many thanks Ray. After looking at many pics, and some confusing variation of spination, I am coming to the fendleri option. But the plant has lived without a label for twenty years so will probably carry on ok without!
