My greenhouse will soon be ready for a spring clean. Can anyone recommend any disinfectant. I did spot the organic 'citrox' and wondered if that works. I'm looking to clean wooden staging and trays as well as plastic trays.

Re: Spring clean
You can still get Jeyes Fluid at many DIY shops and Supermarkets, even our local CoOp has it.

I agree that Jeyes Fluid is very effective and I am one of those who love the smell. None of your "bouquet of flowers" odours, with Jeyes Fluid you know it's doing the job.

Why do ye need to disinfect?
Would hot soapy water not do the job?

Up to a point, yes, but it might not get rid of pest eggs, mould etc.habanerocat wrote:Why do ye need to disinfect?

Thank you for all your replies. I want to scrub to remove pests and disinfect to help reduce risks of disease and rot etc. I'm sure there are also small pests lurking in the woodwork and trays that like a combination of scrubbing brush and disinfectant. Andy

Re: Spring clean
I use a small electric steam cleaner and this does get into the small nooks and crannies.

Yes, washing up liquid and water is all I've ever used.habanerocat wrote:Why do ye need to disinfect?

These are great, we have one that we use around the house, particularly on the windows and doors, I've never used/considered it in the greenhouse before though, but will when the weather warms upSylvia wrote:I use a small electric steam cleaner and this does get into the small nooks and crannies.
