Hello there,
I am new on this forum
I have recently purchased Ceropegia haygarthii seeds. I was wondering how to sow them, when to sow them, and what care to give seedlings. Can anybody help?
I live in a flat with plenty of daylight and sunny spots, London.
Thank you,
N

Re: How to grow Ceropegia haygarthii from seed
Hi nwa.Google will give you lots of information. Must say bizarre but lovely flowers. It says plant comes easy from seed, and can even be grown out doors in good weather. Do you have a propagater or some form of bottom heat. If not I would leave it a few weeks when we have better heat and light. Cheers

Thanks for your help Eric. The seeds were quite expensive so I'm just wary of doing it the wrong way and then regretting it. I do have a heated propagator so I'll try it the traditional way and hope for the best!
Re: How to grow Ceropegia haygarthii from seed
My limited experience with Ceropegias is that they germinate quickly and are easy seedlings. I grow in a propagator keeping them warm and damp all the time. I keep them humid for a few weeks and gradually remove the hood when they look strong enough.
I find advice from the web very variable and I only really listen if it is from a known succulent specialist. I wouldn't try this outdoors in the UK but perhaps I am missimg a trick.

Quick update. I put them in a zip lock plastic bag in wet tissue, on a south facing window sill, and three out of ten have germinated. Now in general use sandy compost, growing well.

I'd fairly soon get them potted up and treated as "normal" plants - when they are say 2 " high.
My C. haygarthii does really well on a warm, semi-shady windowsill, flowering much of the year round. Water well, but the only thing not to do to mature plants is leave them standing in water.
