One of my oldest plants
This is a Turbinicarpus valdezianus that I didn't grow from seed. It came to me as a seriously thirsty and mite-attacked plant about 15 years ago. It isn't much bigger now and perhaps never will be.

Re: One of my oldest plants
They can't be rushed to grow on their own roots, that's for sure. My biggest 8 years old seedlings are about an inch across and despite their minute size will put out a nice display each year, with the odd flower opening late November or so and the main event happening in early March.
However, they make up for their slow growth by starting early: this is a 2013 seedling, blooming at just under 1 cm across.

Here's one of my oldest plants grown from seed. Mammillaria tepexicensis, still tiny, still flowers every spring.

I've also got some "seedlings" that might never flower, but it is still nice to have ones that start after only a few years.Aiko wrote:I fear my 1998 sown Pachypodium lamerei are stil far from flowering. Maybe when I will retire in the year 2043?

It isn't only the reliably early T. valdezianus that is flowering (and small). Here is T. pseudomacrochele. I wonder if it knows about the frosts and snow that are coming?
